Buddhist Meditation in the Theravada tradition
Online Meditation Courses and Support since 1997

The Meditation Course

Application Details

Our next available course will begin in January 2009 and registration is now open. To ensure a place, early application is advisable. The course runs from January 24th to April 23rd 2009.

Subscription Fees For New Course Participants

The subscription rate for our current course is US $125 - the equivalent of $1.39 per day. This brings 90 days' tuition via Vipassana Fellowship's new Online Course Campus, personal support for your practice (by e-mail and online discussion) from the course teacher and includes our 2009 audio supplement with specially recorded guided meditations and chants.

Please note that anyone unsure about applying because of genuine financial difficulty may contact us to discuss paying by instalments over a longer term or, when necessary, a reduced subscription fee.

Buddhist Homelands Scheme

Our FREE subscription scheme for South Asia

If you currently live in one of the traditional homelands of early Buddhism, which helped to form the Theravada tradition, we are able to offer the online elements of the course free of charge. Selections from the audio supplement will be made available using streaming in the Online Course Campus. This scheme applies to India, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Nepal, Burma, Cambodia and Laos. We are also happy to offer this version for the personal use of (ordained) Sangha members residing anywhere. Please note that applications for the September course under this special South Asian scheme can be made from December 24th, 2008.

Subscriptions For Previous Participants

Concessionary rates available to all previous participants

If you have participated in any of our earlier online courses you are welcome to join us for the new session at a substantial discount: the standard version for US $70 including the audio supplement. Note: Our Parisa scheme is an alternative way of subscribing that provides ongoing support, access to future courses and new monthly material.

Technical

Before applying, please check that your computer meets the following specification:

You will need a personal computer with a regular Internet connection and a standard web browser (such as Internet Explorer, Opera or Firefox). The course is suitable for Windows, Apple Mac and Linux users. Your display should be capable of a screen resolution of 800x600 or greater. The audio supplement requires a CD-Rom drive, soundcard and speakers (or headphones). The Online Course Campus uses Flash for some of its resources, so your browser needs to have the free Adobe Flash Player plug-in (most already do).

Registration

If you would like to register for the forthcoming course, you will need to complete our online application and pay the subscription to secure a place. Once we have received your form and payment we will normally write to you within 7 days to confirm your place.

Completion of our application form

We need to know a little about you if we are to be able to support you during the course. We'll ask you for your contact details and also that you tell us something about your experience and reason for wanting to take the course. This provides the opportunity, if you wish, to let the course leader know of any issues that may need to be taken into account during the 90 days we will be together. Payment can be securely made by Credit or Debit card (Mastercard, Visa, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, JCB, Maestro, Solo.).

If you do not have access to one of these cards, please contact us before applying to discuss alternative modes of payment.

Please ensure you have read the Course Description and Frequently Asked Questions. You may also find it useful to read the Terms and Conditions that govern the use of this site, our software, and which include our privacy and refund policies for your protection.
